Ann Coulter has more than 20 years of experience in both the public and private sectors creating and leading participatory planning processes and turning plans into completed projects. Her work has ranged widely from affordable housing to town and city planning, from leadership development to documentary film.

At KCRW she has led public participation processes for the 2006 Knoxville South Waterfront Plan and the 2007 Nashville Downtown Waterfront Redevelopment Plan.  She was Principal in Charge of the 2007 King’s Port on the Holston Project and the 2007 Chattanooga Main Street Revitalization Plan.  She also represents KCRW as Turley Fellow at the University of Memphis, geared toward the high quality redevelopment of the University District.

A Chattanooga native and graduate of Middle Tennessee State University, Ann also holds a Master's Degree from the University of Missouri. In 2003 she was awarded a prestigious Loeb Fellowship at Harvard's Design School where she was in residence for nine months.

In 1993, Ann was named the City of Chattanooga's Director of Economic and Community Development and two years later became Executive Director of the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Regional Planning Agency where she was responsible for regional long-range land use and transportation planning for eleven local governments. The Planning Agency was also the operating entity of the highly acclaimed Urban Design Studio.

From 2000-2005 Ann was Executive Vice President of RiverCity Company, Chattanooga's private, non-profit downtown development firm.  She authored the strategic plan that led to the historic 21st Century Waterfront Plan, a $120 million set of public and private downtown waterfront improvements completed in 2005.

Her civic involvement includes membership on non-profit boards such as Chattanooga Community Foundation, and she is a founding member of the Women's Leadership Institute. Ann wrote and produced a short documentary film on a Native American public art installation in Chattanooga that has been an official selection at the Nashville, Memphis, Asheville, NC and Oklahoma City Film Festivals.
